The field of physics examines the fundamental structure of matter and the interactions between the primary components of the universe. This scientific discipline is grounded in experimentation, measurement, and mathematical analysis, with the aim of discerning quantitative physical laws.

The fundamental discoveries in the field of physics have led to the development of numerous ubiquitous technological innovations that we now consider commonplace. While the fundamental principles of physics are universal, the discipline has expanded to such a degree that several specialized subfields are almost viewed as distinct scientific domains.
